Evgeniko. Table runner

Table runner or wall hanging. Unique Sarakatsani woven piece from the 1940s-50s. This rare woolen textile has a smooth texture that offers a distinctive tactile experience while inspiring admiration for the exquisite weaving artistry of the Sarakatsani women of Thrace. Despite their nomadic lifestyle, they passed down masterpieces of weaving and embroidery, primarily through their traditional garments.

The decorative elements include pieces of silk fabric and three handcrafted silver votive offerings depicting eyes, symbols of the self and the soul. Used since antiquity, these apotropaic symbols serve to ward off evil and capture good fortune.
