Table runner or wall hanging. Unique Sarakatsani woven piece from 1949-50. This rare woolen textile, in its natural black color, has a smooth texture that offers a distinctive tactile experience while inspiring admiration for the exceptional weaving artistry of the Sarakatsani women of Thrace. Despite their nomadic lifestyle, they passed down masterpieces of weaving and embroidery, primarily through their traditional garments.

The decorative element features an embroidered circle and cross, reminiscent of those traditionally stitched onto the aprons of Sarakatsani women, known as “panagoules”. These motifs serve both as fertility symbols and protective talismans, representing a personal cosmos woven into the eternal cycle of the seasons.
